Our bodies have eternally been designed to meet the challenges that are inflicted on the Immune system. However, everyday choices of food and lifestyle add to the complexity of the scenario.

Environmental pollutants and modernization takes it all on a new level of rigour. The current pandemic has in no uncertain terms brought to light that a robust immune system holds paramount significance as a level of defence against the virus.

Metaphorically speaking, building a fortified resistance (usually built over a time!) against pathogens can be akin to peeling an onion, which could take several posts to cover.

However, the focus for this post is about a regular day where I have my non-negotiable besties to keep the immune system revved up and ready, should the bad guys come knocking.

While this is by no means an exhaustive list, here are my top 3 go-to food groups for everyday meals:

Greens: Spinach, kale, collard greens, Swiss chard, water cress (what can I say, love’em all!)

Cruciferous Vegetables: Cauliflower, Cabbage, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, the list goes on.

Root Vegetables: Carrots, Beets, Radish, Parsnips, Turnips etc.

Loaded with antioxidants, they scavenge free radicals and cleanse the toxicity out of the body.

Full of vital nutrients, they nourish, heal and renew the body. They provide major support to all the vital organs of the body, especially the cleansing gateways of the liver and kidneys.

The fibre works as a means for fat to ride out of the system.
